Inexpensive and mobile solar cells deliver "electricity everywhere"

PE-Lux is working on printed organic bulk heterojunction solar cells that will be flexible and inexpensive.

In comparsion to conventional solar cells, printed solar cells can be designed to work with different wavelengths. Therefore a high performance plastic solar cell can be produced. Theoretical efficiency of solar cells based on polymers is much higher than with traditional silicon solar cells. PE-Lux has deposited a core patent for a high performance plastic solar cell. While traditional solar cells can only transform light of a certain wavelength into energy, polymer solar cells can use a broader spectrum of the light, therefore producing more energy.

Traditional solar cells have never made a mass market for mobile solar energy production, as they are too expensive, too heavy and prone to break. Polymer solar cells from PE-Lux will be inexpensive, lightweight, flexible, robust, and more powerful.
